Welcome to the heart of Florida, where Lake Placid beckons with small-town allure and a vibrant cultural tapestry. Join me on a journey through this hidden gem, where enchanting streets, outdoor murals, and preserved natural wonders paint a canvas of discovery.

Charm and Culture: A Town’s Tale

Outdoor Murals and Artistry: Downtown Lake Placid is a canvas of creativity, boasting nearly 50 outdoor murals that adorn its charming buildings. Each mural tells a story, reflecting the town's character and welcoming spirit. Stroll through the streets and let the vibrant artwork capture your imagination. The mural tour book is available at the Visitor's Center and many locations throughout the town for $4 including tax. Take your self-guided art tour of Lake Placid. This book will guide you through "The Town of Murals" so you don't miss a detail.

Caladium Capital of the World: Known as the Caladium Capital of the World, Lake Placid celebrates its title with an annual Caladium Festival held at the end of July. Immerse yourself in a sea of colors as caladium blooms take center stage, creating a breathtaking spectacle that defines the town's horticultural identity. Festival features: Car & Bike Show, Floral Arrangement Competition, Art & Craft booths, Food & Entertainment, Area’s Growing Grape Industry Wine Display, Florida Friendly Landscape & Ornamental Plants, Caladium Festival Art Competition and Caladium Field Bus Tours!

Lakeside Tranquility: Explore 27 freshwater lakes, inviting you to unwind and connect with nature. Whether a lakeside stroll or a peaceful boat ride, Lake Placid's natural beauty awaits.

Local Delights and Festivities: Indulge in the annual Grape Stomp hosted by
Henscratch Farms Vineyard & Winery in August, a delightful celebration of local flavors and community spirit. Don't miss the Saturday Morning Market on the second Saturday of each month from October through March, where the community gathers to share local treasures and handmade crafts.

Sip and Savor at Tropical Winery: Venture beyond the city limits to experience the enchanting Tropical Winery, a hidden gem that offers a diverse selection of high-quality wines to suit all tastes. For just $12, indulge in a wine tasting where you can choose five different wines, accompanied by a take-home souvenir wine glass. My partner and I had an unforgettable date night here—affordable, memorable, and filled with great memories. If you visit in the afternoon, treat your senses to amazing live music from local artists.

Cultural and Historical Gems: Explore Lake Placid's unique ecosystem at the Archbold Biological Station, a haven for nature enthusiasts. Dive into the town's history at the Depot Museum, home to the iconic red caboose and an impressive collection of artifacts curated by the Lake Placid Historical Society

America's Most Interesting Town: In 2012, Reader's Digest crowned Lake Placid "America's Most Interesting Town," a testament to its captivating blend of art, culture, and community spirit. As a resident, I can attest to the warmth and charm that make Lake Placid truly exceptional.

Nature's Symphony: Parks Near Lake Placid

Highlands Hammock State Park: A Forest Time Forgot: Embark on the Ancient Hammock Trail, surrounded by towering cabbage palms and live oaks over a thousand years old. Nature's resilience unfolds in this immersive forest experience. Traverse this short loop to be surrounded by the gentle giants of the woods, each step unveiling the rich history preserved in the heart of Highlands Hammock.
